Many libraries are combining summer & reading into summer reading challenges.
I’m doing several challenges this summer, and thought I’d share details about them with you, as you may want to join in the fun.
All of these challenges are still in-progress (Multnomah’s started just today).
If you & I don’t share one (or more) of the libraries below, then I suggest that you check-out your library’s site, to see what they’re doing this summer.
King County Library System
“All Ages Summer Reading 2022”
- Dates: Jun 1, 2022 – Aug 31, 2022
- Goal: Read 1,000 minutes.

- Prizes: “After logging 500 minutes or more of reading or doing 25 early learning activities, you will receive a King County Library System Reader patch. After logging 1,000 minutes of reading or doing 50 early learning activities, you will receive a King County Library System Reader journal.”
Kitsap Regional Library (My Home)
“Read More Challenge: 10-100 Hours”
- Dates: Jun 1, 2022 – Aug 31, 2022
- Goal: Read 100 hours.

- Prizes: “Readers of all ages, finish reading your first 10 hours and receive a book or journal of your choice. New this year, there’s a special prize that awaits the 50-hour reader, while the 100-hour reader earns a celebratory T-shirt!”
Multnomah County Library
- Dates: Jun 16, 2022 – Aug 31, 2022
- Goals: Read for 45 days.

- Prizes: “Each time you mark at least 15 days (they don’t have to be in a row!), come to the library to receive a prize. If you play on paper, fill out one of the cards on your gameboard and bring it with you. Once you have read 45 days total, you have completed the game! Come to the library (if you play on paper, bring your last card) on or after July 30 to receive a T-shirt and Prizes (while supplies last), and an entry in the Grand Prize drawing for your age level.”
North Olympic Library System
“Read Beyond the Beaten Path: 2022 Summer Reading Challenge”
- Dates: Jun 13, 2022 – Sep 3, 2022
- Goals: Read for 30 days.

- Prizes: “Read (or be read to) for 30 days to earn a special Summer Reading Challenge T-shirt. You will automatically be entered into the Grand Prize Drawing when you have tracked 30 days of reading. Read (or be read to) for 60 days and receive a second entry into the Grand Prize Drawing.”
Pierce County Library System
“Summer Reading 2022: Read Beyond the Beaten Path”
- Dates: Jun 1, 2022 – Aug 31, 2022
- Goal: Read for 45 days.

- Prizes: “This year, prizes include: Babies & Toddlers: a board book. Kids & Tweens (ages 3-12): a free book and a free pass to Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium or Northwest Trek. Puyallup Public Library
“Oceans of Possibilities”
- Dates: Jun 1, 2022 – Aug 31, 2022
- Goal: Read 10 books.

Seattle Public Library
“2022 Adult Book Bingo”
- Dates: May 18, 2022 – Sep 6, 2022
- Goals: “BINGO: Complete a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line!” and “BLACKOUT: Complete all 25 squares!”

- Prizes: “BINGO: Complete a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line! Timberland Regional Library
“TRL Summer Library Program 2022”
- Dates: Jun 1, 2022 – Aug 31, 2022
- Goals: Track 10 activities.
